Legal Question in Family Law in California

visitation

My wife and I are planning to move to Oregon soon. She has a child from her first marriage and that child has visitation rights with his father. My wife and the father have joint custody of the child and we would like to know what papers have to be filed, (if any), to accomodate our situation. We plan to keep up the visitation as per the court order even when we move. We just want to make sure we are doing everything legally as not to cause any more turmoil for the child or my wife. Please write us back as soon as possible and let us know the exact forms we need to file. Thank you for your time.

Re: visitation

You should obtain a stipulation, an agreement which is made into a court order. This stipulation should state that the parents agree that mom and the child can move to Oregon. Then state the provisions for visitation, including who will pay costs of transportation and the type of transportation allowed. That is will the transportation be by car airplane and any restrictions on who can drive, that is mom, dad, step parents etc.
