Legal Question in Family Law in California

wage garnishment

I was advised by my attorney not to appear for a scheduled

divorce court date. I later was advised (by mail) that my ex was granted EVERYTHING. Six months later I was advised again (by mail) that there was a levy against my accounts and that my ex was awarded 25% of my wages for his attorney fees plus. I now have a new attorney and have filed a claim of exemption. My ex than filed an opposition to my claim. I have been ordered to appear back in court for ''examination of judgement debtor'' what does this mean?

Re: wage garnishment

Examination of a judgment debtor is an opportunity for the creditor to ask about assets etc. The debtor is under oath and must honestly answer each question.
