Legal Question in Family Law in California
Wage Garnishment Default
The court issued an order for my ex-husband to settle with me $2,000. He would not pay me so I had the sheriff's department garnish his wages. As of May 2001 he was laid off his job. I am sure they gave him severance. However, payments were being made to me monthly and he still owes me $500. Is there anything I can do legally to retrieve the balance. The Sherriffs Dept said that I could levy his bank account or find out where he is employed to collect the rest. I have his social security number. What do you suggest I do?

Re: Wage Garnishment Default
you can ask the court to set a judgment debtor hearing and he will have to come to court to testify where he works and where his money is.
