Legal Question in Family Law in California
My wife and I had an agreement that we would travel to chicago every other year with our kids...in 2014 we celebrated new years in chicago, and per our agreement, we were to stay in california for new years in 2015..interesting did not happen..my wife and her family planned a trip overseas from Dec 25 to January 4..my son bday is Dec 30...i was upset because she planned the trip without my knowledge and around our sons bday..she pretty much gave me two choices go or don't go...of course I ended up going, I didbt want to miss my son's bday...so a month later, we get a group text from her family that they want to plan another trip around the same dates...and my wife was for it...they totally disregard my family here in California, like they don't exist..I was upset...what gives them the right to schedule trips with our kids whenever they want...we have had our difficulties in marriage and now we are getting divorced...he statement is that her family has to always spend new years together no matter what..kinda sucks for my family..do I have any rights for them not to go this year?

The only way to control the parenting situation is to have court orders. When you file and serve your petition for divorce, you should include with that a request for order motion to deal with custody and visitation concerns..
