Second wife entitlements

Iam the first wife. We were divorced in 1980 and he married again. I have his only child and I have never remarried. He died a year ago, My son and I never got to see any documents. My son was his only child and I thought he was intitled to something. I also was told that maybe I also might have been entitled to maybe some social security or retirement. Am I maybe entitled to something. Please help!

Depending on your son's age, he may be entitled to SS benefits. Call or visit your local SS office. This may apply to you, depending on your age and how long you were married to the deceased.

You son may have inheritance rights, depending on whether or not the deceased died with or without a will. With a will, he could have written your son "out". Without a will, your son would be an heir or a pretermited heir. You need to seek probate counsel.
