can my ex wife force me to agree to softball for my daughter..we have joint custody. she is saying she will take me to court if i don't agree

It depends on why you don't agree. Divorced parents can get a court order on anything that isn't already covered by an existing parenting plan order, and can even get a modification of an existing order, if it is "in the best interests of the minor child." On the other hand, you better not come into court with a serious issue, if the court remembers you as the person who forced a court hearing over every little detail of after-school and weekend activities instead of working it out. So you better have a damned good reason for saying "no," and your ex better have a damned good reason for taking this issue to court, or you both can expect to get read the riot act by the judge, at the very least, and whichever of you loses can very likely expect to pay the other person's attorneys fees for such a wasteful trip to court instead of working it out.
Also to consider...does your daughter want to participate in softball? If she does, then its incumbent for the parents to support the child in participating in these activities and design a time share that allows for these events.
