Legal Question in Family Law in California
My wife left unexpectedly and left me with the bills and a new lease that I can’t really afford. Do I have a recourse. Like taking her to small clams court for part of the balance of the lease? I’m willing to accept I can’t get the other bills being in my name and loans we took from family members. But the lease in in both our names.

You would get booted out of Small Claims, because this is a Family Court matter. You should file either for divorce or legal separation immediately. The court can then make orders for allocation of all debts and obligations acquired during the marriage.
