Legal Question in Family Law in California
Wife and I have been sperated for over 12 years. We have 4 children together, all over 18 except 1. Youngest is 17, turning 18 in august of next year. Niether of us own property or have anything of value to divide. What would be the easiest and cheapest way to divorce?

The cheapest way is to do all of the paperwork yourself. Your Family Law Facilitator's Office can offer some guidance, but ALL of the California courts have been impacted by the budget.
Time is money. You will either sacrifice your own time (and money) by having to learn how to file and proceed with a civil lawsuit - that is what a divorce is. Or, you pay someone for their time who knows what they are doing. How much is your time worth?
Go to your local book store or online and pick up "How to Do Your Own Divorce in California" by Nolo Press. Look thorugh it. If it looks clear and simple to you you're set - just use the book. If you just have a few questions, I agree with Ms. Bridgford that your local court's Family Law Facilitator or Family Law Self-Help office will almost certainly be able to get you past anytihing in the book you don't understand. If you're still confused at that point, call me or any other family law attorney who does "limited scope" work and we will do just enough work to put you on track without billing you to take over your whole case.
