Legal Question in Family Law in California

Wife's income/child support

My husband asked for a review of his child support because he now has another child to support. On the form where it asks for my income we marked it as confidential. CSS has now sent the paperwork back saying that my husband now has to tell them what my income is. Since my income will not be taken into consideration as far as how much he has to pay and I know that my income could lower his obligation because of taxes, why do we have to provide it? Is it mandatory that it is provided? Most importantly, will the other parent be able to see what I make or will it be kept confidential from her? I don't feel that it's the other parent or CSS business how much I make. I'm just really funny about my money. Thanks!

Re: Wife's income/child support

It will not be confidential and will be a public record, just as your husband's will be a public record. If you do not report your income then the court will assume that you make nothing which will make his child support go up. Talk to a child support attorney in your county so that you will understand how the process works. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
