Legal Question in Family Law in California

will a domestic partneship resistered in the state of California affect alimony paid to one of the domestic partners. The divorce was granted in the state of California.

That's not an issue I've encountered before, and I don't have time to research it, but I can't imagine that registering a domestic partnership would not have the same effect as remarrying. The whole point of the domestic partnership law was to satisfy the equal protection demands of same-sex couples who were not allowed to marry. So a registered domestic partnership carries with it the same bundle of legal rights, responsibilities and effects as a marriage. It would, therefore, make no sense for registering a domestic partnership not to have the same effect on spousal support as remarrying.
