Legal Question in Family Law in California

will my wages be attached to my husbands child support

I recently got married to my husband who has prior engagements with an ex-girlfriend. He has a child w/her.His income has decreased this year drastically. He's planning on modifying his child support. For me being his wife,I'm curious to know will my wages be attached for being his spouse? The relationship between the two is unfortunate and I have a feeling she will do whatever to recieve my income. What should I do to protect myself and my little income?

Re: will my wages be attached to my husbands child support

Your wages, in most cases, cannot be attached to pay for your spouses child support obligation. However, any bank accounts in both of your names can be attached for the payment of child support. The court will not examine the account to determine who contributed the funds that are being attached. Keeping your wages in a separate account should provide significant protection.
