will my wages be garnished if i marry someone who owes back child support? we all live in California

Your personal wages should not be. His can be however.

You personal wages are not subject to his debt. To protect yourself, you need to insure that your wages are placed in an account that he does not have access to. If he has access to the account, the money in your account can be reached by levy to pay the back child support.

You got good answers. I would just add that if you are marrying someone who does not pay his debts, a pre-nup is absolutely essential.
