i have to work my scheduled court date. can i reschedule an ex parte over the phone?

If it is your ex parte, you give the other side notice that it will not be heard that day. If it is the other party's ex parte, you may want to phone the court clerk and let the court know that you will not be available, and would like it scheduled for a mutually available time and date.

There are no assurances you will get a continuance so it is wise to consider letting your employer know you may have to be away from your work that day as a plan B.
