Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm working part time 7 1/2 hours a day $ 10.40 an hour. I want to pay my past child support.

How much will be garnished and if it's 25% is there a way to have it decreased? I don't make much money.

If your ZIP code is accurate, it looks like you are close to Corona, CA. If so, I would contact

Discuss your situation. Your employer is not being very fair with the 7.5 hours/hour so I suppose you get no benefits and don't have 40/hours a week. Nothing to do about that; however, it is ridiculous to expect you to have wages garnished up to 25% and expect you to live.

If you are not in the Corona area, let me know and I will find the Services for your area.

If an attorney is needed, they should be able to assist you with some counsel.

My condolences to your situation. A lot of people have been there. Just know, that there is assistence for people in your situation. You might just look up "Department of Social Services" for your area on the Internet and ask them to direct you to the right department after you explain your situation.

They can help with any of the following, if you need them:

Food assistance

Health Insurance

Internet discounts

even things you would not imagine: cell phone assistance, in paying, car maintenance, many things.

It is out there, the problem is a lot of people don't know where to look. "Department of Social" services can really help people until they get a better job.

I wish you the best.
