Legal Question in Family Law in California

Wrongful Attorney Fees

Last month I successfully received physical custody of my 14 year old son. I have paid my attorney $15,000. and still owe her more. The opposing council took my ex-wifes case FREE of charge as he is on retainer to the huge corporation she works for. Now opposing council wants me to pay his legal fees and the judge has agreed to it. We go back to court in November. How can I fight this? My attorney said I'll probably have to pay. Is this true?

Re: Wrongful Attorney Fees

File a motion in opposition, file appropriate financial disclosures indicating that you don't have the ability to pay, and find a way to argue that she DOES have the ability to pay--or at least a better ability than you do. Your attorney may be able to be of some guidance. Good luck!
