Legal Question in Family Law in California

my x-boyfriend whom i have 3 children with has physical custody of our children. my children are constantly telling me that there fathers girlfriend is mistreating them, physically and mentally. in most cases when there fathers not home. its gotten to the point where the details are vary disturbing i cant even get to sleep at night because i feel helpless. me and the father vary rarely see eye to eye on matters. what can i do legally to prevent corporal punishment from this girlfriend on my children.
