Legal Question in Family Law in California

Four years after our visitation mediation my ex-husband hires a lawyer and now they want me to sign the minute order. It seems kind of weird after so long that I would need to sign it if it's already in the system? Does this seem right?

No, it does not seem right. You need a local attorney to help you. If you can't afford an attorney, get a pro bon attorney.

Parties do not sign minute orders; judges do or the clerk.

To clarify, if they have prepared a formal order and have sent it to you, it's part of their requirement. The minute order itself is not the finalized version. As the opposing party, they must send it to you for your review and approval before it can be submitted to the judge for signature.

You should really discuss this with a local attorney.
