Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

do you need to take cfra after fmla?

I am currently on maternity leave.

Left on 7/23, had the baby on 8/4 and am due to return to the office on 11/25. My company will extend my leave until Jan. 3rd, however my bonus will be affected. They will prorate the bonus for the time that I am on leave without pay. My question is am I able to take the cfra time off at anytime or do I need to take it now. I was thinking that I could go back to work nov. 25 and work through Jan. 31(our year end) and then take the cfra time off. Also, how many weeks does cfra allow me?

Assuming you have not already taken any portion of CFRA leave, you are entitled to take up to 12 weeks off to bond with your baby. It does not have to be taken all at once. You may take time off in increments but you should work out the schedule with your employer in advance.
