Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Can a company deny a request for leave under FMLA? NEED SERIOUS HELP FAST!!!!!!

My grandparents are having health problems in relation to closing their business so that they may qualify for their social security. I am employed now with free housing associated with my employment. How much advance notice do I have to give "by law"? My grandparents stand "in loco parentis." Will I lose my house because of this? The bottom line is that I want to take 30 days to help my grandparents financially with their business before one of them has a stroke. Would I safe in asking this request of my employer? Please help fast!!! Thank you!!!

Normaly, you must give your employer thirty days advance notice if you are taking leave for a planned medical procedure. If the reason for the leave is an emergency you are required to give as much notice as possible.

Your employer is not required to give you any benefits other than continuing your health insurace while you are on leave. Therefore, you may be required to vacte the housing during your leave. When you return you must be given the same benefits you had before taking the leave.
