Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

New Fathers allowed time off of work ?

I am a new father, and am having a hard time getting even 1 day off at work. Is there a law that requires my employer to grant me my request for time off to assist wife with newborn baby? She is sore and needs assistant with the baby until she heals from her wounds. Is there a web page that I might be able to read up on this subject ? The nurses at the hospital say the law is on my side, but I want to read it for my self, and possible be able to print a copy of that incase my employer is not firmilliar with that law.

You may be entitled to the time off work for care of your child and/or wife. Contact the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing for specific information, to answer your questions.
