Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Changes in FMLA

Has there been any recent changes to the FMLA? For instance; an employee having to use FMLA if absent from work more than 3 days for regular or minor illnesses..such as colds, earaches, flu, headaches, etc.??? If there has been any change in the law, what is the effective date? Any specific sections that can be referenced regarding the above.

Thank you.

The FMLA only covers serious illnesses. Labor Code sec. 233, however, requires an employer to allow an employee to use any sick time accrued.
