Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Insurance while on FMLA

I was on a Family Medical Leave and was terminated due to not being able to return to work within the 12 weeks. My employer is now asking me to pay back the cost of insurance the employer paid while I was on FMLA. Is this legal? I live in California

If you were unable to return due to your illness, you are not required to pay back the insurance premiums.
