Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Pregnancy related absenteeism at work

I am 23 weeks pregnant and get severe migraines. My doctor has agreed to put me out on disability but I don't want to do that. My place of employment has a very strict policy on absenteeism. It doesn't take much to be cut from full time status to part time or be terminated due to absenteeism. My question is am I covered somehow (due to the pregnancy) so that I am not terminated or cut to part time because of my missing work due to migraines.

Re: Pregnancy related absenteeism at work

If your California employer has 5 or more employees, it cannot discriminate against you because you take time off due to pregnancy related reasons. You are entitled to take off up to 4 months off for maternity leave, or illness related to your pregnancy, without retaliation by your employer.
