Legal Question in Medical Leave in California

Taking care of ill Grandparent

I need to take care of my Grandma who is ill, probably for 2-4 weeks. I have worked at a clinic for almost 5 years and am vested. I just recently passed my state boards as an RN. My mgr. stated that if i am off for more than 2 weeks, I will lose my vesting and will come back to the company similar to a new hire, losing vesting etc. Is this legal and under the FMLA guidlines? Please advise, thanks.

Re: Taking care of ill Grandparent

Sadly, Grandparents are not included as persons who you may care for and get job protection under the FMLA.
