Abuse by a county agency
What can I do to stop continued inspections by the Animal Regulation Department of Sonoma County?
I own a dog of unusual breed, a Komondor. This is a large white dog with a coat consisting entirely of cords or dreadlocks.
I live on a street that has become a major bypass of the nearby highway. In the afternoon there is normally a traffic backup past my home. Drivers see my komondor and believe, through their lack of knowledge, that the dog is not being properly cared for, complaints are then filed the Animal Regulation Department. In an effort to stop the complaints we have posted a yellow diamond-shaped sign that reads ''Komondor Crossing'' with a drawing of a komondor in the center.
Animal Regulation has been out numerous times to check on the welfare of my animals and the only citation issued was two expired licenses, at that time I had six dogs.
I have asked Animal Regulation to stop this continuing process but they tell me their policy is to investigate all complaints and it is unfortunate that I have to respond each time.
I have asked them to provide me the name of those who file the complaint and they refuse to do so, leaving me with no way to provide education about the breed.
What can I do?

As an animal lover, you should and probably do appreciate the diligence of the Animal Control Department. Wouldn't you be unhappy if they disregarded complaints of animal cruelty? It does, however, seem that they could be a bit more understanding of your situation. Keep advising them of your situation and request definite response you'd appreciate.
