Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
I am in an abusive relationship. My partner is a Chronic Alcoholic, perscription drug abuser, emotinallly unstable. I am scared and have some proof of pictures and want them out of my life. I am feeling broken and no longer myself. I need someone to help me. I own the home outright that my partner shares with me thought she is not on any deed, no agreement, no lease. She does not pay rent or anything toward utilities. I am scared to call the cops as she has threatened me if I do and has show outrage and violence when I've attempted to. She has a long history (before me) of additction, rehab, arrest, several dui's, felony theft, child neglect (her nine yr. old daughter is with a legal guardian). She has only lived under my roof for 11 months. I am 51 and she contributed to getting me fired from my job. I have no income now. She is 46 and unemployed not looking at all for work and has reached the end of her unemployment payments and blames me.
I need someone to talk to. I have a Dr. letter as proof also.

Your county bar association and/or your county court will have some kind of self-help coaching for filing and obtaining domestic violence restraining orders. Start with your county bar and/or Superior Court and/or County social services websites.
None of that will do any good if you refuse to call the police, however. They are the only ones who can enforce a restraining order once you have one.
