Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

hello. i want to know if i can or should take action against a woman i was dating that ended a couple months ago. while dating i purchased cell phones for her and her 3 kids and signed a 2 year contract. i know i am stuck in the contract but i was just informed that she called the phone company posing as me and added internet service to her and her kids phones and also took the minute limit off of her kids phones and used my social security number to do so. i did not authorize this and she was only authorized to make payments on the account (which she hasnt) but definately not authorized to make changes! i have been in touch with the phone company and have changed it back to what it was before but i dont want this woman thinkning she can get away with this. is this fraud? can i or should i take action?

You might strongly consider cancelling the contract, and paying the cancellation fee. It might be worth the added expense. Otherwise, you probably would get stuck with paying all of the phone bills for the next two years because, more than likely, she won't pay them and it would be your credit on the line.

I know very little about cell phone contracts, but since you will have to pay for the usage and they might try to increase the costs again, would it not be cheaper to pay the penalty and cancel the service then continue on with the billing?

You could sue for identity thief but does she have any assets your can collect against? Will she go after you by claiming rape? Would it not be better to forgot her.
