Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
I want to add my always go by name "Peggy" as my middle name on my marriage license in California. "Peggy" is never my legal first name nor middle name but I always go by it. Can I do it at marriage or I need to file a petition at court? Thanks!

Check with the Clerk's Office, but you should be able to use any name as long as it is not intended to defraud anyone. That is the general rule for all name usages. Some entities will state they want the name on your birth certificate.

You have to bring a government issued photo ID to get a marriage license, so I doubt they would let you use a name different than what is on your photo ID.
