Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

An, alleged, libelous publication was sent to a person's (former) employer, public and government agencies; suffering continued injuries. A lawsuit was filed but, missed the filing deadline; dismissed due to the statute of limitations. The person continues to suffer slanderous innuendoes based on the false, derogatory information, attacks on the person's character. What legal actions, if any, can be taken against the publishers of the, alleged, false information?
