Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Need an Attorney FAST!
(San Diego) Stupid me thought I could litigate for my one man corporation in a suit against a client who owes me $20,000 by oral contract for work done. He countersued claiming I destroyed his computers (bogus). We went to trial and I was not allowed to speak for my corporation and with no attorney my complaint was dismissed. He had an attorney and dropped his counter suit against me without prejudice, but then proceeded against my corporation. Since I could not speak and no attorney to defend me, he got an $18,000 judgment. The judge did say that he would stay the judgment if I could find an attorney to represent me by 1:00pm on Friday 2/27. Big problem is that I am short of cash up front for an attorney, but willing to make payments and give an attorney any percentage of contingency fee required. I KNOW I can win it. If you cannot help, perhaps you can recommend someone in the area who can. Thank you.

I don't understand. If you're being sued, there can't be a contingency. You'd have to pay a lawyer hard cash. Give the San Diego County Bar Association Attorney Referral Service a call for a referral.
