Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

auto accident

A person at a stop sign pulled out and hit me.Police report states it was his fault. The insurance company declared my car a total loss.I had to pay 259.00 to buy it back.My car is now a salvaged vehicle. The insurance paid me the value of vehical.I will now have to pay additional fees to register it as a salvage vehical.

My question is, since I have been paid the value of the vehical, can I now sue the other driver for the additional cost to register the vehical and the cost to repair the damage he caused?

Re: auto accident

I assume that the vehicle had a value well above the $259. Let's say $1,259. Since you chose to "keep the salvage value" the insurance company would have paid you a "net" "new money" of $1,000.00. You pay all of the registration and or other DMV costs and you DO NOT GET PAID for repairs at all.
