Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My boyfriend and I were approached by a friend of his and his mother and asked if we would remodel their kitchen as well as help out with the rest of the house. This is what we do For months they hounded us. The even begged us to move into the spare room rent free.. We finally gave in. So I put my stuff in storage and I moved out of my home into theirs. Two days later the mother turned into a monster. She made it horrible for me to be there. Needless to say on the third day, I was thrown out. So down the street I went walking leaving behind all my things, and my boyfriend, and no place to go. A few days later my boyfriend meets up with me, and said he was waiting on a cabinet so he could finish the kitchen. to make this long story short. , They got what they wanted, Throw us out kept all our things, sold all my boyfriends tools and tore up his 4 runner he had at their house. and left us homeless. What can we do about this ?

It is very difficult to believe that your fact scenario occurred and that you would allow it to occur. Your boyfriend temporarily leaves you to finish a kitchen remodel for which you never say whether you are to be paid, he leaves behind all of his tools, lets someone ruin his vehicle, and you have no money to stay anywhere, all occurring within about a week's time. And you have no idea what to do, such as reporting to the police that they illegally took and sold you possessions, demanding payment from them for the work done and the theft of your possessions, immediately telling them you will sue, reporting them to the city for violating the residential zoning code they probably fall under, etc. Your boyfriend abandons you to finish a job for which he will not be paid? I just can not believe this happened; I do not think anyone else will believe this is a serious posting. If it is, I apologize, but if it is both of you need mental adjustment treatment.

Unless you have a valid contractors license, there is nothing you can do but call the police. You have no civil remedy.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. If you don't have a contractor's license, you are SOL.
