Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
I have a buisness with my husband but for legal reasons, the buisness is in his name. The lease, however, is in my name and my elderly parents as co-signers, have their house on the line. I want out of the buisness and the relationship. Unfortunately, My husband was in an accident and is on life support. I know it sounds terrible that I want to leave him when he is on life support, but it was an abusive relationship and he wouldn't stop drinking and driving. I was trying to get him to do a power of attorney in case something like this happened, when it happened. How can I protect my parents from the landlord going after their house if I can't sell the business? As the wife can I even sell the business in the state of Ca.?

I recommend that you immediately consult with an estate planning and/or family law attorney; this is a matter that is far too complex, and far too serious, to rely on advice from a web site such as lawguru
