Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
In CA civil litigation in Superior Court, if discovery cut-off lands on a weekend or holiday, does the cut-off get extended to the next court day or move back to the previous court day? Or would it remain on that day making deadlines to serve or respond be applied according to that day?

It moves forward to the next court day. This was the source of much procedural combat for many years. So the legislature finally cleared it up with a specific provision that discovery cut off moves forward to the next court day when it falls on a weekend or holiday.
