Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

California. My company sent an employee to do work at a public school. The employee entered into an oral contract regarding the work and pay. Only a portion of our bill was paid. The school disputes the hourly rate of pay agreed to.

I'm thinking of taking this to Small Claims Court.

Who do I sue? Is it the principal of the school who negotiated the contract; is it the school itself; is it the school district; the checks we did receive came from the xxx County Board of Education, are they to be sued? Should all of them be sued?

First you have to submit a Government Code claim to the school board. They must reject it before you can sue. You then sue the school board.
