Car Accident

Is there a time restriction on when someone can sue you for damages from an accident? If so, what is the deadline? If not, can they sue you forever?

The time limit, called a statute of limitations, for a lawsuit based on negligence is one year from the date of the accident for personal injury and three years for property damage.

Generally, they have 2 years from the time of the accident to sue you for bodily injuries, and 3 years for property damage. If you were uninsured or if for some other reason their insurance company has already paid their claim, the insurance company has three years for both the property damage and the bodily injury from the time they are paid out to bring an action.
