Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

The car I bought is a lemon!

Hello,

Recently I purchased a car from a stranger. This person assured me of all the work done on the car and even had me speak with his mechanic who supposably did all the work. He stated that they had redone the AC and a other expensive work. The day after I bought it, I realized that it has no bumpers, the interior trim was in place by electrical tape, there is broken glass all under the seats and the seller disconnected his phone and email address! I found a paper in the trunk that is a list of things that needed to be done, and some were marked off but many were not. I feel as though I have been swindled for $13,000; is there anything I can do? Your answers will be most appreciated!

Thanks,

Glenn

Not to much. You saw the car before buying and should have seen all the visible problems.

Hi Glenn,

from the facts given so far, it appears you have several viable tortious causes of action that you may be able to recover against the seller, and quite possibly the mechanic who "endorsed" the seller's "warranty claims" prior to your purchase of the vehicle. if you can email directly with more facts regarding this case, as well as where we might be able to locate the seller and/or mechanic at this point, i may be able to further assist and/or represent you in this matter legally. thanks for your question.
