Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

How to challenge a restraining order

My friend was hit with a permanent restraining order which directs him not to make contact with several third parties as well as the petitioner. My understanding is that the court has no authority to restrain contact with third parties. How can he challenge this order? Should he appeal it (the order is very recent), or is there something he can do in the trial court? He represented himself the first time around and may not have made the right arguments.

Re: How to challenge a restraining order

The case is over, and he lost. Too bad he didn't have a lawyer.

When he gets arrested for violating the order -- and the only reason people apply for restraining orders is to have other people arrested for allegedly violating the orders -- I hope Your Friend has the newfound good judgment to get a lawyer before that case is over, and he loses.
