Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Clerk of the court

When a complaint is written by say a District attorney. Filed with the clerk of the court, and then served

to the defendant.

It is my understanding that the clerk of the court, by statute is the keeper of the seal and of all court

records. Where can I find the statute supporting this information?

Thank you
