Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
Collecting an award
I was awarded a judgement by the Califronia Contractor State License Arbitration Program. No payment has been received so I was told to pursue civil judgement against the award. The county clerk would not give us the form number we need to file?? How can i pursue this without hiring a lawyer??? Thank you.

Of course, you could always enlist the services of a lawyer. Some types of state administrative awards provide for an extra award of attorney fees to enforce the judgment.

There isn't a specific form to fill out and the clerks cannot give legal advice. You can hire an attorney file a petition to confirm the award as a judgment. And if you report the award to the Contractors State License Board, the can suspend the contractor's license for nonpayment.
