Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Court Filing Procedures

I was promoted as a legal secretary (in San Francisco) but I still have a lot of things to learn like...What can I do to expedite filing of papers in the Clerk's office? How many copies? stapled? 2 hole punched? Is it possible for you to email me on how to do it in every court in california? Please help me...

Thanks you so much

Re: Court Filing Procedures

As the responsible person for legal filings in your office, I would recommend that you get a copy of the "local rules" available on line or at the court house for each court you file in. All issues as to filing procedures, backing. holes, staples, etc. are usually covered there. They also include various "local" rules as to ex parte hearings and shortened time motions, etc. So it's agood idea to become familiar with all the local rules and to have a copy availale for easy reference. Couts usually have an "attorney service" window where the clerks there are used to working with legal staff and can answer some of these basic questions as they are applied in their court.
