Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
A creditor tried to collect debt by levying my account since the courts issued a writ of execution. I only make enough to pay my current expenses. I completed an exemption form and my money was returned. I have tried to contact the law office to make payment arrangements. But they will not work with me. They said my only option was to settle for 75%, which I cannot do at one time. I can only make monthly payments. I see on the courts website that the creditor has filed a "writ of execution returned - unsatisfied," What can I expect now? Should I get a lawyer to help me negotiate a payment plan? But I do not have enough to pay for a lawyer. I really want to pay this debt but they are not willing to work with me. What can I do?
