Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

creditor debt owed

A friend of mine had previously gotten a pay day advance and did not have the money to pay it back. She recently recieved a letter from attorney. She orginally borrowed $300 and they are now asking for $1200. They state in the letter that she must make arrangments to pay in full within 30 days or she will have her wages garnished. Can they sue her for this amount plus court costs and attorney fees. Why would it have gotten so much higher than the oringinal amount?

You may have a case under the Fair Debt Collection Act. Also, we need to review your documentation to see why the debt was increased so much. Please fax your documentation to me at 714 363 0229 and I will call you and provide you with free consultation. Please also fax us your phone number.
