Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California
My dad died in September and I transferred his truck into my name and a few months later one of his friends started calling me telling me that the truck belonged to him and that i had no legal right to. He stated that he had the title to the truck and began making threats against me. He stopped calling and the truck had been in my name and two days ago he stated calling me and said that i am going to pay for stealing his truck. Is there any thing that he can legally do to me? I did talk to the police about it because he called them and told them that i stole the truck and the police said that i did nothing wrong and that the only thing he could do was take me to civil court. Is that correct?

If the truck was properly registered in your father's name, and you properly transferred title, there is nothing he can do legally except take you to civil court.
