Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

My daughters vehicle was stolen. Value $11,500 + personal belongings.

Background:

- Party of six went out for an evening in Los Angeles.

- Utilized valet parking. She has the claim ticket.

- Taxi'ed home due to drinking - told valet attendant they would be back next day to retireve vehicle

- That same evening a person presented themselves to valet and said he was to drive my daughters car home for her.

- Valet asked for claim ticket. Suspect did not have claim ticket.

- Suspect became beligerant and adamant that he was to drive her car home.

- Valet agreed to turn over car after if Suspect presented Drivers license.

- Valet copied information and surrendered car to Suspect.

- Police report filed. With valet admission to above.

- Daughter has liability insurance only.
