Defamation and False Light

Someone who is a noted public figure is spreading seriously inacurate information that is harming, using their status to carry that message. possible false light?

I thought i read somewhere in California statues (and now can't find) about people who are Public Figures defaming or false lighting others and a higher accountability of that, or along that lines or proving it?

It's the other way around. Public figures have a higher burden than others when they are the plaintiffs in defamation suits, not when they are the defendants. The rules when suing a public figure for such conduct are the same as in any other defamation claim.
