Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

I'm the defendant in a unlimited civil case representing myself that's scheduled for arbitration march 6th. I need to reschedule my deposition this Friday due to a death in the family. How do I do this?

Telephone the attorney that scheduled the deposition, explain your situation and ask that the deposition be rescheduled.

Also give the attorney some alternative dates so they know you are being honest; you may need to reset the arbitration to a date a few weeks later, but that might be difficult to get a mutually convenient date for all three of you.

You should speak to an attorney to find out where your case might be weak so that you are prepared to respond to the likely questions from the other side and to learn in general how to handle your self at the deposition to minimize damage to your case. The other side not only wants information from you in the deposition, they are judging you as to your credibility and how you would come off in front of a jury and/or judge. It is very dangerous for you to represent yourself, especially without any attorney advice.
