Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

What is the differece between a Law and an Act.

What is the difference between a Law and an Act? I was informed that an Act can expire. If this is true, how can you read an Act to find out its experation date?

Law is a more general term, which includes "Acts."

Law is the generic term for all of our rules. The U.S. & State Constitutions; Federal and State Statutes; Federal, State and Local Regulations; Federal and State Case Law.

"Act" is another term for Statute. Usually it is applied to a group of statutes which are related. For example the Uniform Fraudulent Transfers Act is a series of statutes which were drafted to go together addressing the issue of fraudulent transfers.
