Enter your question here... my fiance who lives in Ca. called off our engagement. i want the ring or cash equal back. what course of action do I have?

It all depends on whether the ring was a gift, or was conditioned on the marriage actually going through. It may take a court to decide the issue.
Most California courts take the position that an engagement ring is a conditional gift, and that if the marriage does not go forward, the ring has to be returned.
Depending on the value of the ring, you may want to hire an attorney to send a letter to your ex demanding return of the ring. If she refuses, small claims, which allows claims up to $10,000, might be the place to go.
