Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

False Reciept's

In small claim's court, how can a person defend or prove that the reciept's that the plaintiff has are inflated or false or not even their own.If the plaintiff has a friend that own's a business related to the product that is being claimed in the suit to be damaged and they write them a false bill or inflated bill, how do you defend against that or prove it other than to just tell the judge that you know the bill is false or inflated?
